 Faculty of Medicine, Srinakharinwirot University is one of thirteen medical schools in Thailand that have been accredited by the Thai Medical Council. Our medical centers provide teaching and integrated health care delivery system. They consists of its centerpiece, HRH Princess MahaChakri Sirindhorn Medical Center; Panya Nandha Bhikkhu Medical Center, and multiple community-based satellite clinics, governed by the Royal Thai Government. Our healthcare system ensures that all residents living nearby Bangkok Metropolitan areas receive a single high standard of care by our well-trained medical staffs, regardless of their ability to pay.

HISTORY

The Faculty of Medicine was established in 1985 in order to alleviate the shortage of physicians in Thailand and to fulfill the following objectives in medical education: to produce physicians who involve in both medical practice and researches; to serve the society’s and community’s health-care needs; to produce doctors with competent administrative skills for unity and efficiency in health care service and medical education; to produce basic researches on the development of quality health-care system; to meet international standards in quality assurance and assessment procedures within the Faculty.

The Faculty was divided into seventeen departments, including Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, Radiology, Anesthesiology, Orthopedics, Obstetric & Gynecology, Psychiatry, Otolaryngology, Preventive Medicine, Pathology, Forensic Medicine, Anatomy, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Pharmacology, and Physiology. Each division has provided teaching to classes of more than 120 medical students each year and serves the patients from nationwide in the interest of providing more convenient and accessible healthcare services throughout the areas.

Our Faculty cooperates with Vajira Hospital, the largest Bangkok Metropolitan hospital, and several other leading medical centers in the country. To accommodate the expansion, a new Central Laboratory & Research building was built at the Ongkarak Campus in the year 2006. Recently, The Faculty of Medicine has successfully collaborated with the Bangkok General Hospital Group (BGH), one of the largest private health-care system in the Southeast Asia regions, in medical researches and services to ensure our continuous improvement in medical teaching and patient care.

In addition, the Faculty has developed a special program in cooperation with the University of Nottingham, England, in which students attend courses in basic medical sciences during their first three years and receive a BmedSci degree from University of Nottingham. Afterwards, they study clinical medicine at the HRH Princess MahaChakri Sirindhorn Medical Center, and our affiliated hospitals. Upon completion of their studies, they receive the Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree from Srinakharinwirot University.

About HRH  Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Medical Center

Opened in 1999, The HRH Princess MahaChakri Sirindhorn Medical Center, under the Royal Patronage of HRH Princess MahaChakri Sirindhorn, serves as the only tertiary medical care center in the areas. Its 500 licensed-bed, 17-floor facility is located in Ongkarak district, Nakhon-Nayok, aimed to provide more convenient and accessible excellent healthcare services to people who lived in 5 surrounding provinces around Bangkok, regardless of their ability to pay. In conjunction with the Srinakharinwirot University, HRH Princess MahaChakri Sirindhorn Medical Center provides a wide range of patient services, educational programs, a clinical setting for research activities and a number of health-related community services.
